A little more about me me.

It has been a while since I posted anything. And since I now have a couple of professional writers following me on twitter, I need to seriously step up my content. So if anyone has any suggestions on future content, or wants to give me feedback please feel free.

Now for the new stuff. Someone asked me what my hobbies are other then trying to write a blog. And I have to confess I am a bit of a nerd in terms of my hobbies.

I am an avid reader and I will read anything as long as its good. But I am a huge Stephen King and Dean Koontz fan. But Anne Rice is awsome and recently I got into Jim Butcher, His Dresden Files series is an awsome step for popular fiction. I also have a huge collection of cookbooks (surprise, surprise). The most recent count puts just my cookbooks at 108 I believe.

I also have a shelf of just novels, and these are just the books I own physical and not the ones I have on my kindle. I read alot. I also love horror movies. Always have always will.

Along with that I have since the summer of 2001 or "02" played a tabletop game called Warhammer 40,000. I mentioned it before when I wrote about my trip to Chicago. But the game requires buying pieces most of them are made of plastic but you have to assemble and paint them. So it is deffinatly a hobby that speaks to the collecter in me. The picture below it one of the pieces I am currently working on.

I also have what some people would call "old lady" hobbies. And call them what you want, yes I do crochet, knit and most recently I started teaching myself to quilt.  Not the most cool things I know, but I am enjoying myself and they allow me to donate the things I make to people who really need them.

As always thanks for reading. And there will be some new food posts comming soon as soon as I stop being lazy and actually go grocery shopping. But if there is anything more you want to know about me, or my hobbies, feel free to post a comment and I will get back to you.

... I don't know...

I have come to another moment where I am not quite sure what to write for you guys. I do know that in the near future I want to do a post on making bread, but until the moment I stop being lazy and actually get up to go grocery shopping to get more yeast, and go grocery shopping in general there is nothing I can bake, or cook for you.

I do want to tell you that I have off and on had this really cool idea for a book and as I solidify the idea for that and get some ideas on to the screen I will share some of those thoughts with you as well.

Also no one has really asked me any questions lately so there is nothing to add on that front. I guess that is all for now, so until next time. Stay well, peace and love

Rant Update. Spoiler alert (I win)

Good news. I just got back from dinner with my sister. And she actually picked a good restaruant. An actual restaruant and not some crappy chain. I am also please to admit that I may have created another foodie.

Another Foodie is born!!!!!!!!!! Let the world rejoice. She also said and I quote "Bacon makes everything taste awsome!"

Something I have already known to be true. At least she is finally comming arround and is starting to trust her big brother.

Restaruant Rant

I consider myself to be a nice guy most of the time. And with my sister celebratening a birthday recently, I offered to take her to dinner, a decision I think I am going to regret.

I live in an area where there are some amazing restaruants, and being a cook I love going out to eat. But being a good brother and a proper gentleman, I gave my sister the choice of where to go.

I would like to formally state that I am not a snob when it comes to where I eat. I have found some really amazing hole-in-the-wall places that make amazing food. I do however, when possible, like to avoid chain restaruants insted I like to support independant, local business owners.

My sister is not of the same mindset. I asked where she would like to go and the first name out of her mouth is a chain sportsbar. I have eaten there before, and all I can say about the food is it is overly salty, probably so you buy more of their stale tasteing beer. Everything on their menu is deep fried and coated in tons of sauce. I don't even remember if they have a burger. (Seriously what kind of place doesn't serve a burger?)The only thing I enjoyed was my fried pickles.

So tell me Dear Readers, am I expecting to much to want to go to a nice place to celebrate a birthday? And is it unreasonable to ask her to request someplace else?

I will come back with am update tomorrow after dinner
amd let you guys know what went down.
But feel free to comment your ideas answers to the questions.

As always thanks for reading.

New Year 2013

First and foremost Happy New Year to all of my readers. May the year 2013 bring with it the realization of all your dreams and aspirations.

Like the Irish say, “May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields.”

With the last line in it is usually used as a goodbye “And until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of his hand” But like it is, I think it makes for a nice blessing for the upcoming year.

Often times with a new year, comes a renewed fervor of health consciousness. Myself included, I have often made those same empty resolutions year after year. I always keep them vague enough that I am successful no matter what.

With that said, this year I am posting my New Year resolutions here. And giving myself as little wiggle room as possible.

In the year 2013,

I WILL exercise more. At least 2 times a week and when I get a car I will join a gym.

I WILL develop a social life, and that includes going out to do things and meet new people. Which kind of goes hand and hand with the first one.

I WILL post blog entries and videos more often and include a better variety of food, not just baked stuff. I want to say that I will post something here once a week even if it is just a status update or answering a question or 2.

That, as my favorite writer would say, Dear Reader is where you come in. Please, ask me questions, make comments or tell me how I can get better. I am doing all this for you. I want to share my love of food, and life with all of you.
